Messina - Vertical drop awning
The Messina drop-down awning is a highly functional, almost utilitarian, protective outdoor screen sheathed in simplicity and elegance of style.
The Messina, like the Brescia, has an austere frame design. The lightweight aluminum top bar is a flat, smoothed rectangle that can blend into the background of the surrounding architecture. The full cassette completely conceals the fabric roller tube and the fabric of the drop-down awning when its closed. Twin steel guide rods, 10mm thick, provide sturdy support in wind to keep the screen from loose movement.
The bottom profile bar, like the top mounting bar, is powder-coated aluminum, which is lightweight and helps the drop-down awning move smoothly. The bottom bar is locked securely in place at any point along the guide tracks simply by turning a small knob. As with the steel guide rods, the locking mechanism helps keep the drop screen securely positioned even in strong winds.
The Messina effectively shields you from environmental factors like sun, UV, glare, and heat as well as airborne irritants like pollen, dust, and insects. The Messina even offers protection in heavy rains.
More than one Messina drop screen can be joined together for larger areas. A special middle joint binds the top mounting bars together, and double-sided mounting brackets keep the guide tracks parallel and plumb.
The Messina offers both mesh-style Soltis fabrics (for a translucent, light-diffusing effect) and traditional woven solution-dyed acrylic fabrics.
