| GRANDE
LATERAL ARM RETRACTABLE AWNING |
Note: This model is engineered to be wall mounted
only. The Grande model cannot and must not be ceiling,
fascia, beam or roof mounted based on engineering
specifications.
Important:
You will need a clear width span (no projections
like vents, lights, speakers, downspouts, trim etc.)
that is 19 high without the flat hood and 23"
with the flat hood. The awning can be manufactured
in 1 increments (they are priced by the foot so
a 328 is priced as a 33 awning). The width (from
left to right) of the awning is determined by the
overall width of the roller tube and its tube support
brackets. The fabric is approximately 5 1/8 less
(2 5/8 on each side) than the total width.
The
Grande lateral arm model can be mounted to any solid
surface, however you should ensure that the applicable
installation fixings penetrate a structural member
(stud, brick, header, beam etc.) a minimum of 1
½. The bottom of the frame, measured at
the point of attachment (mounting height) should
be if a minimum of 9 from the deck or patio. This
will give you a MINIMUM of 7 front bar head clearance.
Five degrees may not be enough for rain water runoff,
so the mounting height should be greater than 9
to attain at least a 15-20 degree pitch. The higher
the retractable awning is mounted, the greater the
rain runoff will be. Should you be mounting the
awning over an out swinging French door or sliding
door, the awning should be mounted at least 10
above the top of the door. The height of the Grande
when retracted is 19 tall without the flat hood
and 23 inches tall with the flat hood and the unit
protrudes 15 from the wall. A reinforcing mounting
plate may required to support the weight of the
Grande retractable awning which is approximately
25 lbs per linear foot.
Make
sure that there are no obstructions in the area
that the awning will cover. The slope (angle/pitch)
of the Grande awning is adjustable at the time of
installation and at any time in the future (by using
the hex bolt) on all available sizes.
Finally,
determine which side of the Grande awning you want
the motor, backup manual override etc. to be located.
Standing on the deck or patio facing the mounting
wall, select left or right. Your choice should be
based on ease of access and any obstructions. Access
to the power source is an obvious consideration.
Measurements of location of existing outlet to control
option box or outdoor switch, from control option
box or outdoor switch to motor and from control
option box to wind sensor or rain sensor or sun
sensor, if purchased, would also be required.
Cranks
are available for backup manual override awnings
in seven sizes: 43, 59, 70, 90, 102", 122"
or 162. To determine the size required measure
from the specific location the Grande awning will
be mounted down to the users waist. This is the
approximate size required.
Siding
shims may be needed, and are used to keep the mounting
brackets plumb when mounting to horizontal lap siding.
Pressure treated wood 2 thick x 19 wide (23 with
hood) should be mounted according to awning width.
The wall or universal with hood brackets can then
be mounted to the pressure treated wood. This is
not needed for existing flat surfaces.
A
complete set of instructions is sent with every
awning. Should you need further assistance in measuring,
we are an email or phone call away. Email is responded
to within 24 hours or less.
