Prato - Attached Retractable Patio Cover System

The arched, freestanding Prato retractable patio cover revives classic Old World elegance. The awning fabric follows curved guide tracks that match the curve of the frame, so the Prato has a unique canopied look that is gently rounded and perfectly timeless.

The Roman Arch of the Prato

There is something powerful in the simple shape of an arch. It's part of the lingering magic of Roman architecture. The round, smooth profile of the Prato captures that sense of protective strength, of simple elegance. Design is about finding balance, and the Prato retractable patio cover strikes that balance between a gentle shape and strength.

The Prato (like its sister retractable patio cover the Modena) is the only patio cover in our line with that distinctive arched frame. The Prato is fully retractable, but it has a special hidden track that moves along the arch of the frame so that the awning fabric itself follows the arch of the frame, giving a taut, smooth canopy with no gapping, draping, or sagging.

The Prato is a freestanding pergola. It can be perched on a rooftop patio, sprawled by a seaside deck, or tucked close to a wall – its lightweight yet commercial-grade aluminum frame can be installed almost anywhere. The Prato has three different frame options – small (four posts), medium (six posts), or large (eight posts) – so you can select a size and visual style that matches the space.

When you need protection from the elements, the Prato is unparalleled. It is designed to give the ultimate protection from sun, rain, wind, even hail:

• Sun. Waterproof light filtering and blackout fabrics offer so much UV protection they are certificated by the American Cancer Society. Mesh fabrics offer alternative sun protection – maximum light and visibility while still blocking UV rays.
• Rain. The high arch provides excellent natural runoff for rain, while integrated, hidden downspouts and gutters control drips and splatters.
• Wind. A variety of optional enclosures – clear vinyl windows, side curtains, full panels, or sliding doors – protect from dust, wind, and even temperature swings. The Prato can almost be like a permanent outdoor room.

Despite its Old World aesthetic, the Prato is all modern convenience at heart. The Prato (in every size) is always motorized and it works with our full selection of controls: remotes, timers, switches, and sensors such as sun and temperature sensors.

And what is convenience without comfort? All of the party accessories are available with the Prato: heaters, MP3 players and speakers, and lights integrated into the frame.

A Diverse Selection of Enclosures

Our patio cover series uses a permanent framework to support the retractable fabric and to define the space. Because of the permanent frame, almost all of our patio covers can be enclosed to provide both privacy and protection.

There are three different types of enclosures that can be used with any of our patio covers, and any or all of them can be used at once:

• Installing Terni vertical drop awnings on the beams of the patio covers for retractable sun, glare, UV, rain, and mosquito control
• Using graceful side curtains or front curtains to soften the profile of the frame
• Choosing sliding doors (two, three or four panels, with multiple slide directions to choose from) for the strongest sense of quiet, privacy, and seclusion – almost like permanent construction
