This
is a detailed buying wizard to help you make the
correct choices when using our pricing
estimator.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 1 - Quantity Section:
First decide how many side arm Mirage retractable
awnings you would like to purchase and where they
will be located?
BUYING WIZARD STEP 2 - Width & Projection sections:
Decide on the width and projection of each awning
based on the space available, how much shade you
would like, the angle of the retractable awning
in relation to the sun protection of the windows,
sliding doors or french doors. Also consider protection
of interior furnishings and carpeting from U.V.
(Ultraviolet Rays). See measuring instructions for
more details on how to choose the correct size width
and projection.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 3 - Round Hood & End Caps
section:
Consider using the round hood with end caps on the
side arm Mirage awning. The hood is HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED as it will provide extra protection
for the retractable awning.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 4 - Operations section:
Determine what type of operation you would like.
Manual is just that….you operate the awning manually
with a removable crank. Various size crank handles
are available to operate the retractable awning.
If you decide to choose the motorized version or
motorized version with Manual Override, you will
also need to choose an Operating Control option
(see below) and Power Cable options (see below).
Various size crank handles are available to operate
the Manual Override motor. Most of our customers
purchase the Motor with Manual Override and this
option is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 5 - Position of Motor / Override
/ Crank when facing awning from OUTSIDE:
The motor or Manual Override motor and crank must
all be on the same side, but can be on either the
left of right side of the awning when facing the
awning from OUTSIDE. When making this choice, it
is always best to place the motor, crank on the
side closest to the source of electrical power if
you are motorizing the awning.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 6 - Operating Controls:
Basic Controls:
Under
Basic Controls the following choices do not require
an electrician:

Under
Basic Controls, the following choices do require
an electrician:

Advanced Controls:
Under Advanced Controls ALL 5 options including
remote when combined with Sun and/or Wind and/or
Rain sensors require an electrician.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 7 - Power Cables:
Basic Controls using an Outdoor Plug-In switch
The 3 part cable runs from the outdoor switch to
the outdoor electrical outlet.
The 4 part cable runs from the outdoor switch to
the tubular motor.
Basic Controls when using a Remote Control only
The 3 part cable runs from the wind control box
to the outdoor electrical outlet.
The 4 part cable runs from the wind control box
to the tubular motor.
Basic Controls when using a Wind Sensor
The 3 part cable runs from the wind control box
to the outdoor electrical outlet.
The 4 part cable runs from the wind control box
to the tubular motor.
The 2 part low voltage cable runs from the wind
control box to the wind sensor.
Basic Controls when using an interior Toggle or Décora switch
Electrician to supply wiring from the motor to the
interior wall switch
Wall Switch and Wind Sensor
Electrician
to supply wiring from the motor to the interior
wall switch
The 2 part low voltage cable runs from the wind
control box to the wind sensor.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 8 - Frame Color:
Frame color choice on the Mirage model is
Ivory Only.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 9 - Fabric Pattern Name &
Number:
You have a choice of 3 different manufacturer’s
fabrics that all have the same 5 year warranty but
are expected to last in the 12-15 year range.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 10 - Valance Styles:
You have a choice of 6 different valance styles.
All valances are approximately 8 inches long.
BUYING WIZARD STEP 11 - Trim Colors:
There are 24 trim colors from which to choose. The
trim is approximately ½” wide and is sewn into the
bottom of the valance (using Tenara thread) to provide
a finished touch.
