Need help installing your awning? We've got you covered!
We choose very carefully (and so should you) when it comes to the quality of every component that makes up our awnings, from the hardware to the fabrics to the thread we use. So our frames are made from 6063 aluminum, and our hardware is 316 Marine grade stainless steel -- both of which resist corrosion, rust and pitting.
We use Qualicoat® brand powder coating on the arms, frame and hood. Nu Image’s frames are made from aluminum, but their website doesn’t state the type of aluminum used, the type of metal used for their hardware, or the brand of powder coating used on the frame.
And that thread we mentioned? It’s 100% expanded clear Gore PTFE TENARA® UV resistant sewing thread, and it comes with a lifetime warranty against seam separation. It’s made to withstand salt water, cleaning chemicals (even bleach), extreme temperatures and acid rain. It is also non-flammable and will not rot or mildew.
We offer our customers a lot of options so they can customize their awning for their needs and space. Our awnings have a maximum width of 52’6” and a maximum projection of 16’ using one motor and one piece of fabric; the Nu Shade’s maximum width is 20’ wide and the maximum projection is 12’.
RetractableAwnings.com offers 4 color choices for our awning frames: White, Ivory, Sand and Brown. Nu Image offers 3 frame colors: White, Almond and Brown. However, when it comes to fabric colors and options, we’re the clear choice, with your choice of over 500 solution dyed acrylic fabrics from big names like Para, Dickson, Recasens, Sattler and Sunbrella. Nu Image offers fewer choices in its own fabric, with a surcharge if you prefer Sunbrella.
When you buy from RetractableAwnings.com, there are several features available that make our awnings sturdier and more convenient to use. All of our models except the Genova feature optional telescopic poles for extra wind support, a patented center support that helps prevent the fraying / separation of fabric, and our patented roller tube design that prevents the bunching of fabric. We also offer some high-tech options you won’t get with Nu Image, including a timer/digital keypad and keyswitch or our smartphone/tablet app / module that you can use to schedule your awning’s opening and closing times.
We offer a 25-year non-prorated warranty on our frames and a 10-year warranty on our brand name fabrics. Nu Image, on the other hand, offers a 5-year warranty on the frame, which their website doesn’t specify as prorated or non-prorated.
The bottom line: RetractableAwnings.com uses higher quality materials than our competitors do, offers far more fabric choices and other options, and has a much better warranty as well.
